As a woman in a male dominated industry, what has been the biggest challenge you have faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge l faced was the lack of support (male colleagues doubting my knowledge and that l am not capable of fixing cars). l overcame this by believing in myself and working hard to prove to my colleagues that l am also capable of doing what they can do.

What inspired you to join this industry?

I fell in love with fixing cars when l was still young, and my father inspired me to be a motor mechanic.

What changes, if any, have you seen in your field with regards to women in your field?

In mechanics not yet, because they are few female motor mechanics.

How can we attract more women to consider a career in the STEM fields?

In order to attract more women in male dominated fields, l think there should be campaigns in schools where young girls are encouraged to take up trades.

If you were to advise other young women starting their careers in the tech or within
the STEM fields, what is the one thing you would say to them?

To believe and have faith.

When not working, what do you do for fun?

Watching soccer.
