Which company do you work for?
What is your specific area of specialisation?
How long have you been in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields?
As a woman in a male dominated industry, what has been the biggest challenge you have faced in your career, and how did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge has been to be taken seriously as a developer because I am a woman. But I think when you know you’re why then you can overcome any challenge in your career.
What inspired you to join this industry?
My sister suggested I go into technology, and I have fallen in love with Technology ever since and honestly can’t see myself doing anything other than technology.
What changes, if any, have you seen in your field with regards to women in your field?
I have seen more women going into development now, and I can’t be happy enough because I was the only woman in my class when I started in technology.
How can we attract more women to consider a career in the STEM fields?
I think if we actually create comfortable spaces for women, then we would have more women open to the idea of Tech, and giving out the right information and requirements for one to go into Tech.
If you were to advise other young women starting their careers in the tech or within the STEM fields, what is the one thing you would say to them?
Explore so much, there are so many fields you can explore in Tech, build your skills and if possible, explore as much as you can before settling into something.
When not working, what do you do for fun?
Overthinking and solving problems on Hanker Rank.
